Talk about the current state of the airline industry.

The coronavirus has really been hard on the airline industry. The spread of the virus throughout the world has made traveling abroad next to impossible. Airlines had no choice but to reduce the number of flights, by a large margin. The ongoing financial difficulty has placed some airlines on the brink. There have been some cases of mergers and takeovers in the airline industry. With many planes nearly grounded, many airline employees have been placed on leave, involuntarily. Also there have been almost no new recrutis at airlines this year. Thankfully, some flights are being resumed. But bringing airlines back to nomal will not happen overnight.

A : Your company must be having a rough time these days. Are you still going on flights?

B : No, alomost not all lately. It's been almost five months since I took a leave from work.

A : Really?

B : Yeah. Less than a quater of flights are being operated, compared to before.

A : Oh, I see. I guess the airline industry really was hit hard by the coronavirus.

B : That's right. It will only get back to normal after the outbreak comes to an end.
